Timing of birth defect diagnosis may impact parent trauma
NCT ID NCT04911036
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study observes 240 mothers (and optionally fathers) of children born with esophageal atresia, a condition where the esophagus doesn't connect properly to the stomach. Researchers want to see if learning about the condition before birth (antenatal) versus after birth (postnatal) leads to different levels of post-traumatic stress. The goal is to understand how to better support families, not to test a treatment.
