Scientists probe why half of patients suffer pain years after major surgery

NCT ID NCT05369130

Summary

This study aims to understand why about half of patients develop long-lasting pain after major chest and abdominal aorta surgery. Researchers will observe 60 patients before and after their operation, measuring pain levels, painkiller use, and body chemistry to identify who is most at risk. The goal is to gather knowledge that could one day help prevent this chronic pain condition.
