Scientists hunt for Eczema's origin in Baby's first blood

NCT ID NCT07316465

Summary

This study aims to understand if babies are born with 'self-attacking' antibodies that target their own skin cells, and if these antibodies are linked to developing eczema. Researchers will follow 500 newborns, some at high risk for eczema, for two years. They will check umbilical cord blood and follow up at 6, 12, and 24 months to see if these antibodies predict or influence eczema development.
