Scientists probe the Brain's 'Body Map' to unlock the mystery of clumsiness

NCT ID NCT05154799

Summary

This study aims to understand the root causes of Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), a condition that causes clumsiness and affects daily activities in about 6% of children, often continuing into adulthood. Researchers will test children and adults with DCD to see if difficulties with touch, body awareness, or adapting to using tools are the main reasons behind their motor challenges. The goal is to gather knowledge that could lead to better support and interventions in the future.
