Brown fat linked to cancer weight loss in tiny study
NCT ID NCT03621124
First seen Apr 15, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This small pilot study looked at whether brown fat—a type of fat that burns energy when you're cold—might explain the weight loss some cancer patients experience. Researchers planned to compare energy use in cancer patients with and without active brown fat. Only 3 people took part before the study was stopped early, so no firm conclusions can be drawn.
