New drug combo may fix dangerous transfusion problem in blood cancer patients

Summary
This study tests whether a drug called acalabrutinib, alone or with bortezomib, can reduce harmful antibodies that make platelet transfusions ineffective in people with blood cancers. About 42 adults aged 18-65 who have this transfusion problem will be enrolled. The goal is to improve platelet counts and lower bleeding risk.
