Mystery illness: why do healthy people get devastating infections?

NCT ID NCT00814827

Summary

This study aims to understand why some people who are not HIV-positive and have no known immune problems still get serious, hard-to-treat infections. Researchers will follow about 210 patients in Thailand and Taiwan who have these infections, giving them standard treatments and monitoring their health for two years. The main goal is to learn if these patients have specific antibodies that might be interfering with their body's natural defenses.
