Summary

This study tests a culturally adapted version of the Strong Families programme in Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. The programme teaches parenting skills and strengthens family bonds to prevent drug use, violence, and other problems in children aged 8-15. About 90 families will be randomly assigned to either the programme or a waiting list. Researchers will measure how feasible and acceptable the programme is, and whether it improves child behavior and family functioning.

What this could lead to

If successful, this programme could provide a low-cost, community-based way to prevent drug use, violence, and other negative outcomes in children.

What could go wrong

This is a small exploratory study with only 90 families, so results may not apply broadly. The programme is behavioural, so effects depend on family engagement and may vary.
