New hope for seniors: Low-Dose blood thinner may halve stroke risk
NCT ID NCT07454707
First seen Mar 19, 2026 · Last updated Jun 09, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding a very low dose of the blood thinner edoxaban (15 mg daily) to standard antiplatelet therapy can reduce the risk of another stroke in people aged 75 and older who have already had an ischemic stroke. About 1,200 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the added blood thinner or standard care alone, and will be followed for 2–4 years. The goal is to find a safer, more effective way to prevent recurrent strokes in older adults.
