New drug combo could boost stroke recovery after surgery

Summary

This study is testing if giving the medication tirofiban by IV before a standard stroke surgery (thrombectomy) helps patients recover better. It will involve 870 adults who have had a severe stroke caused by a blocked artery in the brain. The goal is to see if this extra step leads to less disability and more independence 90 days after treatment.
