Race against time: new strategy to save brain function during stroke transfers

NCT ID NCT07253181

Summary

This study is testing whether giving a clot-busting medication called Tenecteplase to stroke patients at their first hospital, before transferring them to a specialized center for advanced treatment, leads to better recovery. The trial involves 572 adults who have had a major stroke caused by a blocked brain artery and arrive at the hospital 4.5 to 24 hours after symptoms start. Researchers will compare outcomes for patients who receive the drug before transfer against those who receive standard care.
