Breathing tube breakthrough: helping stroke patients speak and breathe freely again

NCT ID NCT07435727

Summary

This study compares two different approaches for safely removing breathing tubes (tracheostomy tubes) in stroke patients. Researchers will test whether using a speaking valve (which allows patients to talk while the tube is still in place) works better than the traditional capping method for determining when the tube can be permanently removed. The goal is to help stroke survivors breathe on their own and communicate more effectively during recovery.
