Arm training may boost balance after stroke

NCT ID NCT06086314

First seen Jan 22, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tested whether adding special arm-reaching exercises (using lights as targets) to standard physical therapy helps stroke survivors with trunk control, balance, walking, and fall risk. Thirty adults who had a stroke at least 3 months earlier took part. Researchers compared three groups: one did fast reaches, one did slow reaches with a 5-second hold, and a control group did stretches. The goal was to see if the type of arm training makes a difference in recovery.
