Stroke survivors may walk better with exercise before therapy
NCT ID NCT07650500
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether adding 20 minutes of moderate-to-high intensity aerobic exercise before constraint-induced movement therapy helps stroke survivors walk better. Fifty adults who had a stroke at least 6 months ago will take part in a 4-week intensive program, followed by an 8-week home telerehab program using a mobile app. The goal is to see if the exercise boost leads to lasting improvements in walking, balance, and daily activity.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Lower Extremity Modified Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy plus moderate-to-high intensity aerobic exercise
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a more effective rehab program that helps stroke survivors walk better and stay active at home.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small early-stage trial with only 50 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The intensive program may be hard to stick with, and home telerehab might not work for all.
