New hope for stroke recovery: blood flow training plus brain zaps

NCT ID NCT07454954

First seen Mar 09, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tests whether combining two therapies—blood flow restriction training (using a cuff to partially restrict arm blood flow during exercise) and repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (a non-invasive brain stimulation)—can improve arm and leg function in people who have weakness on one side after a stroke. 69 participants will be split into three groups: standard rehab, standard rehab plus brain stimulation, or standard rehab plus both therapies. The goal is to see if the combo leads to better motor recovery and daily living skills over 4 weeks.
