New drug combo tested to stop small strokes from getting worse

NCT ID NCT05310968

Summary

This study tested whether adding the drug tirofiban to standard aspirin treatment could better prevent stroke worsening and new strokes in people with a specific type of small artery blockage in the brain. It involved 970 patients in China who had recently experienced this type of stroke. Participants were randomly assigned to receive either tirofiban plus aspirin or a placebo plus aspirin for 90 days to compare safety and effectiveness.
