First seen Mar 07, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study tests whether a daily medicine called hydroxyurea can prevent strokes in children with sickle cell anemia who are at high risk. About 220 children in Nigeria will receive low or moderate doses of the drug and be monitored for strokes or mini-strokes. The goal is to see if this simple treatment works in real-world clinics.
