Stroke study: can a simple balloon maneuver save more brain?
NCT ID NCT06967025
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tested a technique called ischemic postconditioning in 60 stroke patients who already had a procedure to remove a clot. After the clot was removed, doctors briefly blocked and reopened the artery four times using a balloon. The goal was to see if this extra step could reduce brain damage and improve recovery compared to standard treatment alone. The study also looked at blood markers to understand how the technique might work.
