Heart hole linked to mysterious strokes in young people?

NCT ID NCT04043559

Summary

This study looked back at medical records to see if a common heart condition called a patent foramen ovale (PFO), or 'hole in the heart,' is connected to specific types of small strokes in the cerebellum of young adults. Researchers compared 50 young patients who had an unexplained stroke, some with the heart hole and some without. The goal was to find patterns that might help doctors understand the cause of these strokes.
