New smart brace could help stroke survivors walk safely again

Summary

This study tests a device that combines a motorized knee brace with muscle stimulation to help people who have had a stroke walk more easily and safely. Five veterans with leg weakness or stiffness after stroke will try the device during walking and stair climbing. The goal is to improve walking speed, stability, and reduce falls.
