New stroke drug offers hope for patients who arrive too late for current treatment

NCT ID NCT07324837

Summary

This study is testing a new drug for people who have had a stroke caused by a blood clot but arrive at the hospital 4.5 to 24 hours after symptoms begin, which is too late for the standard clot-busting treatment. About 990 participants will receive either a single, quick injection of the experimental drug or a placebo (inactive substance) to see if it helps restore blood flow to the brain and leads to better recovery 90 days later. The goal is to provide a treatment option for the many stroke patients who currently have limited choices because they are outside the standard treatment window.
