Breakthrough stroke study aims to fix 'Futile' clot removal

NCT ID NCT06265051

Summary

This study tested whether adding the drug tirofiban after successful mechanical removal of a stroke-causing blood clot helps patients recover better. It involved 1380 adults who had a major stroke and whose clot was successfully removed within 24 hours. Patients were randomly given either tirofiban or a placebo to see if the drug prevents new clots and improves blood flow in the brain's smallest vessels, leading to better long-term outcomes.
