New stroke drug safety showdown: 4,500 patients to test bleeding risks

Summary

This study will compare the safety of two clot-dissolving medicines, rhTNK-tPA and rt-PA, in about 4,500 adults who have had a stroke. Participants will receive one of the drugs within 4.5 hours of symptoms starting. The main goal is to see if the newer drug, rhTNK-tPA, causes fewer brain bleeds than the standard treatment.
