Race against time: study challenges stroke treatment rule that may cause harmful delays

NCT ID NCT07318948

Not yet recruiting Disease control Sponsor: Bo Wu Source: ClinicalTrials.gov ↗

Summary

This trial aims to find the best way to treat people having a stroke caused by a blood clot when they also have high blood pressure. Currently, doctors must lower a patient's blood pressure before giving the standard clot-busting drug, which can cause treatment delays. This study will test if giving the clot-buster and blood pressure medicine at the same time is safer and leads to better recovery than the standard wait-and-treat method. It will involve about 1,600 stroke patients at hospitals worldwide.
