Stroke recovery: simple Video-and-Music therapy shows promise for better balance
NCT ID NCT07428824
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether watching videos of functional activities and then performing them, combined with rhythmic music, can improve balance and walking in people who had a stroke. Forty participants will be split into two groups: one doing the video-and-music therapy and the other doing standard therapy. Balance and gait will be measured before and after four weeks of treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Functional action observation therapy with rhythmic auditory cueing
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way to improve balance and walking for people recovering from a stroke.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 40 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The therapy is also time-intensive and may not work for all stroke survivors.
