First seen Jul 01, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026

Summary

This study investigates whether using a stress ball during port catheter needle changes can reduce pain, anxiety, and improve satisfaction in cancer patients. Fifty adult oncology patients will be randomly assigned to either use a stress ball or receive standard care. The goal is to find a simple, drug-free way to make this common procedure more comfortable.

Active substance

stress ball

What this could lead to

If it works, this simple, low-cost technique could help cancer patients feel less pain and anxiety during port needle changes.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 50 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The stress ball may not significantly reduce pain or anxiety for all patients.
