Summary
This study aimed to safely learn more about how a common strain of strep throat bacteria causes infection. Researchers carefully exposed 40 healthy adult volunteers to the bacteria in a controlled setting to see how much is needed to cause illness and how the body responds. The information gathered is meant to help plan future research, including studies to test potential strep throat vaccines.
