Scientists probe why kids carry strep germs without getting sick

NCT ID NCT01558804

Summary

This study aims to understand why some children become 'carriers' of strep throat bacteria without showing symptoms. Researchers will compare the bacteria from children with active strep infections to those who are carriers. The goal is to learn if carriers need antibiotic treatment, which could help reduce unnecessary medication use.
