New shortcut for liver cancer treatment could save time and reduce scans

NCT ID NCT06979219

First seen Apr 11, 2026 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tests a faster, simpler way to treat small liver cancers (up to 5 cm) using tiny radioactive beads. Normally, doctors do a special scan first to check where the beads go, but this study skips that step for certain patients. The goal is to see if the new approach is still safe and effective at destroying tumors. About 146 adults with early-stage liver cancer will take part.
