New shortcut for liver cancer treatment could save time and reduce scans

NCT ID NCT06979219

First seen Apr 11, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests a faster way to treat small liver cancers (up to 5 cm) using tiny radioactive beads called Y90 resin microspheres. Normally, doctors do a pre-treatment scan to check where the beads will go, but this study skips that step for patients who meet certain safety criteria. The goal is to see if this streamlined approach is just as effective and safe, with the main focus on how many tumors completely disappear after treatment.
