Fighting superbugs with your own gut bugs: a personal stool bank to shield transplant patients
NCT ID NCT02269150
Summary
This study is testing if a 'stool transplant' using a patient's own pre-treatment stool can prevent severe C. difficile infections after a stem cell transplant. Patients scheduled for a transplant will have a stool sample collected and frozen before treatment. After the transplant, if their gut bacteria look depleted, they may receive their own stored stool back to try to restore healthy gut balance and prevent infection.
