Can a simple swab stop babies being born too soon?
NCT ID NCT07458802
Summary
This study aims to find out if routinely checking pregnant women for two common sexually transmitted infections (chlamydia and gonorrhea) and treating them can help prevent babies from being born too early (preterm birth). About 2,000 pregnant women in Botswana will be randomly assigned to either receive the standard prenatal care or that care plus extra screening and treatment for these infections. The main goal is to see if this approach leads to fewer preterm births and is affordable for the health system.
