Can a common pill stop STIs in young women?

NCT ID NCT06738407

Summary

This study aims to see if taking the antibiotic doxycycline can prevent common sexually transmitted infections (STIs) like chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis in young women. About 760 females aged 13-29 who have had a recent STI will be assigned to take the pill either weekly, only after sex, or receive standard care with testing and counseling. Researchers will follow participants for one year to see which approach works best and is most acceptable.
