Steroids may change how fast children recover from muscle relaxants after surgery

NCT ID NCT07175623

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 34 times

Summary

This study looked at 60 children aged 5 to 12 having tonsil or adenoid surgery. Researchers gave some kids steroids (methylprednisolone or dexamethasone) and others a placebo, then measured how quickly a drug called sugammadex reversed the muscle relaxant. They also tracked pain, nausea, and how fast kids woke up. The goal was to see if steroids change recovery time or side effects.
