Can a common steroid stop brain swelling after trauma?
NCT ID NCT07358312
Summary
This study aims to find out if giving the steroid dexamethasone to adults with traumatic brain injury helps reduce dangerous brain swelling that can occur in the second week after the injury. Researchers will compare recovery in about 280 patients who receive the steroid treatment as part of their regular hospital care against similar patients who do not receive it. The goal is to see if this already available medication can improve long-term recovery from head trauma.
