Can common steroids save lives in deadly 'Parrot Fever' outbreaks?
NCT ID NCT07352865
Summary
This study aims to see if adding steroid medication to standard antibiotic treatment can help adults with severe pneumonia caused by psittacosis (parrot fever) survive. It will enroll 100 critically ill patients who are already in the intensive care unit (ICU) and need breathing support. Researchers will compare different steroid doses alongside usual care to find out which approach works best to reduce deaths within 28 days.
