One-Time steroid shot aims to stop dangerous Post-Surgery fever and inflammation

NCT ID NCT07328906

Summary

This study is testing if a single dose of a steroid drug (methylprednisolone) given before a major aortic stent surgery can prevent a common and serious complication called Postimplantation Syndrome (PIS). PIS causes severe flu-like symptoms, fever, and inflammation, and is linked to longer hospital stays and heart problems. The trial will enroll 174 patients to see if the steroid reduces PIS, heart injury, and other complications compared to a placebo.
