Does a common health condition make back pain injections less effective?
NCT ID NCT05088954
Summary
This study looked at whether having metabolic syndrome (a cluster of conditions like high blood pressure and high blood sugar) changes how well a steroid injection works for chronic back and leg pain caused by a herniated disc. Researchers gave the injection to 51 adults whose pain hadn't improved with standard treatments like medication or physical therapy. They then tracked changes in pain levels, daily function, and quality of life to see if outcomes were different for people with metabolic syndrome.
