First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated Jun 08, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study tested whether adding a steroid to the numbing medicine used during wisdom tooth removal can lessen pain, swelling, and jaw stiffness afterward. Twenty-five adults with similar impacted wisdom teeth on both sides of their jaw participated. Each person received the standard numbing medicine on one side and the numbing medicine plus steroid on the other side, allowing a direct comparison. The goal was to see if the steroid mixture leads to a smoother recovery.
