First seen Mar 09, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This pilot study tested a light-activated nasal treatment (antimicrobial photodynamic therapy) to prevent pneumonia and bloodstream infections in 227 ICU patients. The goal was to see if a larger study is possible and gather early data on infection prevention. Patients received the treatment during their ICU stay, and researchers tracked how well it worked and how easy it was to follow.
