Patients' own stem cells injected to heal scarred vocal cords

NCT ID NCT04290182

Summary

This study tested a new treatment for severe, untreatable hoarseness caused by scarring on the vocal cords. Researchers took a small number of patients' own stem cells from their bone marrow and injected them into the scarred vocal cords during surgery. The main goal was to see if this procedure was safe and if it could help improve voice function for people who have no other treatment options.
