Stem cells aim to ease hardening skin in rare disease

Summary
This early-stage trial tests a new stem cell injection made from umbilical cord cells for people with systemic sclerosis, a rare disease that causes skin hardening and organ damage. About 21 adults with recent-onset diffuse disease will receive the treatment to check its safety and whether it can improve skin thickness. The study is not yet recruiting and aims to find a better way to control this chronic condition.
