Cord cells could rewire brains after stroke – first human trial begins

Summary
This early-stage trial tests whether injections of stem cells from donated umbilical cords are safe for people who have had a moderate to severe stroke within the last 48 hours. About 35 participants will receive either stem cells or a placebo. The study will also look for early signs that the treatment might help reduce disability.
