Stem cell shot tested to halt blinding eye disease

NCT ID NCT05909488

Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether an injection of stem cells from umbilical cords can slow or stop vision loss in people with retinitis pigmentosa, a genetic eye disease. Researchers will give 30 participants one of two different doses of the cells and monitor their vision and eye health for six months. The main goals are to check if the treatment is safe and to see if it helps preserve eyesight.
