Cord blood stem cells could ease tough arthritis
NCT ID NCT03828344
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This early-stage study tests a single infusion of stem cells from donated umbilical cord tissue in 16 adults with moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis that hasn't responded well to standard treatments. The main goal is to check safety and side effects over 52 weeks. Researchers will also look for signs of symptom improvement, but this is not a cure and ongoing medication may still be needed.
