Groundbreaking trial tests Child's own stem cells to strengthen tiny hearts

NCT ID NCT02781922

Summary

This study is testing whether injecting a child's own heart stem cells directly into their heart arteries after major reconstructive surgery can help improve their heart's pumping strength and overall function. It involves 40 children born with severe heart defects where only one pumping chamber works properly. The goal is to see if this cell therapy is safe and can help control the disease by supporting the heart long-term.
