First-of-its-Kind stem cell shot tested for devastating nerve disease

NCT ID NCT06218134

Summary

This small study tested a single infusion of stem cells from donated umbilical cords in three adults with a severe, inherited nerve disease called Charcot-Marie-Tooth type 1E (CMT1E). The main goal was to check if the treatment was safe. Researchers also looked for early signs that it might help stabilize the disease, which currently has no approved treatment to stop its progression.
