Stem cells tested to heal hearts after attack

NCT ID NCT00877903

Summary

This study tested whether an infusion of adult stem cells could help the heart heal better after a person's first heart attack. The goal was to see if this treatment could reduce the risk of developing heart failure later on. Researchers compared the stem cell infusion to a placebo in 220 patients who had recently suffered a heart attack.
