Could skipping antibiotics be safer for stem cell patients?
NCT ID NCT07308457
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study looks at whether closely watching for infections without giving preventive antibiotics works as well as giving daily ceftriaxone in adults receiving stem cell transplants. One hundred participants with blood cancers or other conditions will be randomly assigned to either receive no preventive antibiotics or daily ceftriaxone until their white blood cells recover. The goal is to see which approach leads to fewer infections, especially in hospitals where bacteria are resistant to common drugs.
