Radiation and transplant tested as potential reset for severe autoimmune disease

NCT ID NCT04380831

Summary

This early study is testing a new way to prepare patients for a stem cell transplant to treat severe scleroderma. Doctors want to see if using a more precise form of total body radiation, along with chemotherapy, is safe and feasible before the transplant. The goal is to 'reset' the immune system to better control the disease, but it is not considered a cure as the disease may still recur.
